i think people need to just shut the fuck up and jam

writing this piece partially becuz i haven’t jammed with people in a full band setting in the longest time until recently at a friend’s birthday, and also becuz a spiel from a friend/bandmate greatly inspired me to think about this– but i think everyone should just shut the fuck up and jam. that’ll be the point of this piece

i think i am lucky i’m not in a state of the scene where it’s a jerk-off competition (old godz pls correct me if i am very wrong) and the BIG big and very addicting drug that is Ego doesn’t really pop up a lot anymore… though it does still seep through from time to time, it’s about how u manage it (thank you for that insight tonchi). would have i survived such a thing i do not know and don’t want to think about

pero nakakatawa lang siya isipin e.

may mga nag-aaway parin na pwedeng i-settle sa simpleng pakikipag-usap (if that’s the most sensible solution, saken ang solution ay mag NBA 2K16), may nag-aangas sayo o may gustong patunayan na parang, tangina we’re all in the same space, same art that we all want to contribute to, the same medium that we all love and crave, music. and i know we’re all angry at the same machine or Big Bad for the lack of a better term, point ko is we’re all in this together, pare-pareho tayo ng pinaglalaban.

get together with some friends, or acquaintances: play your favorite songs, play video games, hang out, make art, build a DIY venue, just have fun. i did that at a friend’s house couple months ago and oh look a new project might be in the works, and tbh red star pilot was kinda born that way. got together w some friends and wrote some songs.

because who knows when the next band decides to call it quits? or when the next venue closes cuz they couldn’t keep it running? who knows when this will all end.

what u can do won’t be for nothing becuz u will eventually contribute to the scene and it will keep the culture alive one way or another. hindi ka “baduy” kasi wala kang inaambag, kasi at the end of the day sinusuportahan mo parin naman ang pinaka-minamahal nating eksena, it can be by buying merch, plugging your favorite local band to prods, documenting and archiving moments of certain gigs, wag ka lang maging kupal about it. that’s where u should shut the fuck up. be part of the jam.
